In honor of last year’s 30th anniversary of A Christmas Carol, our venerable
holiday production received a “makeover.” While staying true to the
original Rep show we all loved, the set was rebuilt to include a revolving
stage and other theatre magic that surprised and delighted audiences.
For more than three decades, the Rep’s enchanting holiday show has
captured the true meaning of Christmas for many Kansas City families, who
year after year are inspired by its strong family values and message of hope
and redemption. Make the Rep’s A Christmas Carol a part of your holiday
celebration this year.

Bravo to The Rep... as the number #1 destination to ring in the holiday season with their signature performance of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Cheers to the special effects, it's inner-active folly, wonderful stage design and the actors portraying this timeless story that is truly captivating. A testament to its success and being part of a packed-house opening night performance was listening to the audience quietly sing-along to the festive tunes. A Christmas Carol 2011 Company
Skylar James Bankes (Associate #2/Poulterer/Young Adult Ensemble) is appearing at the Rep for the first time. He is a sophomore at The Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts where he studies Theatre. Skylar has performed in the Alcott Arts Center’s Shakespeare in The Parking Lot, as Silvius/LeBeau in As You Like It, and taken fun, performance-based classes at the Coterie Theatre, such as Magic Woods and Children of the Damned Corn. He has studied acting for the camera with The Commercial Actor’s Studio and Heather Laird, and works as a Key Grip for Independent Film Company 2day’s Productions. He is represented for modeling by Exposure Model and Talent Agency.
Eva Biro (Laundress/Ensemble) KC Rep: debut. Local credits: Oh! What A Lovely War (Kansas City Actors Theatre). International credits: Shakespeare’s In Love (Calgary Public Theatre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada). Education: BFA University of Calgary, third year MFA acting student at UMKC, where she has appeared in The Comedy of Asses, ShootHorses, Miss Julie, world premiere of Train to 2010, SLAMMED! KC Speaks Out On The Recession, and Pericles. Upcoming: The Wrestling Season (Coterie Theatre), A Winter’s Tale (UMKC Theatre).
Allan Boardman (Old Joe/ Ensemble) is a veteran stage and film actor who has worked across the country and returns to the Kansas City Rep for the second time in A Christmas Carol. He appeared as Baptiste in the KC Rep's production of A Flea in Her Ear in the 2009 season. Locally he has been seen on the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre stage in productions of Mappa Mundi, The Time of Your Life, The Homecoming, Galileo, The Crucible to name a few. He has also been seen at the Unicorn Theatre in a co-production with Kansas City Actors Theatre of The Seafarer. He was also seen in Theatre Gym's production of the original play Duty.
Martin S. Buchanan (Solicitor/Ghost of Christmas Future/Ensemble) returns to the KC Rep stage after appearing here in Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure and A Flea in Her Ear. Locally, Martin has performed in over ten productions at the Coterie Theatre, including Our Town, Little House on the Prairie, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Children of the Damned Corn, and the world premiere of Harry Connick Jr.’s musical The Happy Elf. He has also appeared locally for the past three seasons with The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival in their productions of Merry Wives of Windsor, Richard III, and Macbeth. Martin’s first production in Kansas City was in Ron Megee’s A Very Scary Carrie Christmas Carol at Late Night Theatre. Regionally, Martin has appeared in productions in Seattle, WA at Book-It Repertory Theatre and the Seattle Opera; in Denali Park, Alaska at the Denali Princess Lodge; in Houston, Texas, at Stages Theatre and Houston Grand Opera; in Charleston, SC as part of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, and at the Creede Repertory Theatre in Creede, CO where his performance as The Chairman in The Mystery of Edwin Drood earned him a Denver Post Ovation nomination for Best Actor in a Musical, 2008, for the state of Colorado. Internationally, Martin has toured the Canadian Fringe Theatre Festival circuit, performing in Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. He also has performed in The Twilight Zone: Live on Stage at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Martin graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Drama from the University of Houston. He is married to local Costume Designer Georgianna Londré Buchanan and they are the proud parents of two-year-old Felix Augustus Buchanan.
Lauren Chandler (Want/Children’s Ensemble) Lauren is thrilled to be making her debut at the Kansas City Rep! She is 10 years old and is a 5th grader at Ascension School. She has appeared in numerous productions at Christian Youth Theatre, the Culture House and Notre Dame de Sion high school. Her favorite shows include Annie and the Sound of Music in which she played the part of Gretel. Lauren also loves to dance and trains at the Miller-Marley School of Dance and Voice. "I feel so honored to be a part of this show! I would like to thank my voice teacher, Laure Ronnebaum, the directors, cast members and my family and friends for all of their love and support! TJ Chasteen (Young Ebenezer/Undertaker/Ensemble) KC Rep: A Christmas Carol. Local credits: The Birthday Party, The Collection (Kansas City Actors Theatre); The Lieutenant of Inishmore(Unicorn Theatre); Our Town (Coterie Theatre); Macbeth, Othello, Merry Wives of Windsor, Richard III (Heart of America Shakespeare Festival); Head (directed by Kyle Hatley, KC Fringe Festival). Other: Six and Surfacing (Chatterbox Audio Theatre). TJ directed the world premiere of Pies From The Porn Kitchen (Fishtank Performance Studio). Education: UMKC professional actor training program where he appeared in The Heidi Chronicles, The Country Wife and The Master and Margarita, among others.
Connor Clary (Tiny Tim/Scrooge as Boy) is thrilled to be in A Christmas Carol! He has also performed in Bye Bye Birdie (Leawood Stage Company), The Sound of Music (Christian Youth Theater), and Children of Eden (Culture House/Church of the Resurrection). Connor takes jazz and tap classes at the Miller-Marley School of Dance and Voice. He sings in the Youth Choir at the Church of the Resurrection, and has performed various solos with this choir. Connor performed in Seussical Jr as Jojo as a 5th grader at Mission Trail Elementary School. He is in the 6th grade at Leawood Middle School and is a member of Boy Scout Troop 10. Connor enjoys reading and discovering new apps on his iPod.
Francis Cooper (Children’s Ensemble) is appearing at Kansas City Rep for the second time in A Christmas Carol. Francis has participated in theatre summer programs with the Shawnee Mission School District and The Coterie Theatre performing as The Owl in The Pond, The Fox in The Tortoise and the Hare, and Linus in Snoopy Come Home. He is currently in the fourth grade at Mill Creek Elementary School . Francis enjoys scouts, riding his bike, swimming and playing soccer. Francis enjoys creating comics strips with his friends and would like to send a shout out to all his friends at Mill Creek Elementary school.

Corey Eaton (Children’s Ensemble) is appearing at the Kansas City Rep for the second time. Corey is 12 years old and is a seventh grader at Maranatha Christian Academy. Local credits: A Winkie in The Wizard of Oz and a lost boy in Peter Pan (Culture House), John in Code Red (Maranatha Academy), an orphan in Oliver, and Prince Christopher in Cinderella (Trilogy Cultural Arts Centre); Third Hand Misery (an Independent film with the Kansas City Art Institute). Corey has performed with Maranatha’s Select Choir at Disney World, Orlando. Besides performing on stage, he also enjoys soccer, directing movies and art.
Andrea Fantuzzi (Associate #1/Young Adult Ensemble) KC Rep: debut. Local: The Music Man, The Wizard of Oz (Starlight Theatre); Children of the Damned Corn (Coterie Theatre); Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Shawnee Mission Theatre in the Park); Beauty and the Beast (Jewish Community Center for the Performing Arts); Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Urinetown (Music Theatre for Young People); A Chorus Line, A Murder is Announced, The Wizard of Oz, 1984 (Lee’s Summit West High School); Beauty and the Beast, The Legend of Pocahontas, The Wizard of Oz, Seussical (Christian Youth Theatre) Peter Pan and Wendy (Summit Christian Academy). Hannah Freeman (Belinda/Young Adult Ensemble) KC Rep: debut. Local credits: Evita (Musical Theatre Heritage); Madeline’s Christmas (Mary, Theatre for Young America). Community Theatre: Arcadia (Thomasina, City Theatre of Independence); Bugsy Malone (Blousey Brown, Blue Springs City Theatre); Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Beth Bradley, Children’s Performing Theatre). At Fort Osage High School Hannah was seen in: Alice in Wonderland (Alice), Grease (Rizzo), You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Snoopy), Anne of Green Gables (Anne Shirley), Wizard of Oz (Dorothy). Hannah most recently was the understudy for Jean in the KC Rep production of August: Osage County. Hannah studies dance (ballroom, tap, jazz, ballet) and she is a whiz at multiple hula hoops! She also studies voice at the Music Arts Institute and achieved a “I” rating (soprano) at the Missouri State Vocal Contest. Hannah is a National Honor Society member and Honor Roll student at Fort Osage High School. She participates in choir, drama club, and is the Vice President of the Drama Club and an International Honor Thespian.

Maya Hill (Belinda/Young Adult Ensemble) is excited to make her KC Rep debut in A Christmas Carol. She was, obviously, bitten by the theatre bug at an early age and has been acting, singing, and dancing for as long as she can remember. Some of her local credits include The Piano Lesson (Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre) and Hansel & Gretel (KC Chamber Orchestra). Maya is in the eighth grade, plays the piano, is a member of the Allegro Children’s Choir- Moto Chorus, takes private voice lessons, and takes jazz, and ballet classes at The Culture House.
Whittaker Hoar (Tiny Tim/Scrooge as a Boy/Children’s Ensemble) KC Rep: A Christmas Carol (4 seasons). Local: Macbeth, Richard III (Heart of America Shakespeare Festival), John Brown, Rigoletto (Lyric Opera of Kansas City). Whittaker attends Manchester Park Elementary and is a competitive fencer with Fencing Athletic Club of Kansas City.

Paolo Laskero (Simon, Children’s Ensemble) is appearing at Kansas City Rep for the second time. He appeared as Fleance in the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival's production of Macbeth this past summer. He participated in Camp Shakespeare for two summers and appeared in the camp's productions as Falstaff in Merry Wives of Windsor (2009) and Richard in Richard III (2010). Paolo is in the sixth grade at The Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City. In his free time, Paolo loves to read, write stories and draw the characters he creates. He plays football, baseball and hopes to see the Chicago Cubs play in a World Series in his lifetime!
Erin Lowe (Young Adult Ensemble) KC Rep: debut. Local credits: Lee Bouvier in Grey Gardens (Unicorn Theatre), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (The New Theatre), The Music Man (Starlight Theatre and as Amaryllis at The Pembroke Hill Upper School), Cinderella and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (Shawnee Mission Theatre in the Park). Erin is a sixth grader at The Pembroke Hill School. In addition to performing, she loves baking brownies from a secret family recipe, doing stuff with friends and playing with her dog. She is beginning work on her Silver Award with the Girl Scouts. Erin wants to thank family and friends, especially Nancy Marcy, for their support. God Bless Us Every One!
Emmie McCabe (Young Adult Ensemble) KC Rep: debut. Emmie is a Sophomore at St. Teresa's Academy. Every summer for the past five years she has been in a production at Theatre at Vis, the most recent show being Oklahoma!. In addition to theatre, Emmie really likes science and traveling (even though she’s not able to do it very often). “Thanks to all of my friends and family for everything. This is the biggest production I've ever been in and I'm very excited and I have a feeling it's going to be a great experience!”
Anna McClelland (Children’s Ensemble) KC Rep: debut. Anna is in the sixth grade at Highlands Elementary, where she recently portrayed Hermia in A Midsummer Nights Dream. At the Camellot Academy summer theatre program Anna appeared as Cecelia in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2011) and Cinderella (2010). Anna takes improvisation/acting classes and participates in gymnastics and competitive cheer. Anna enjoys running, reading, and baking cupcakes..
MieJoiee McClinton (Poulterer’s Wife/Young Adult Ensemble) is thrilled to make her Kansas City Rep debut! MieJoiee is a senior at The Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts where she has performed in Beauty and the Beast, The Madwoman of Chaillot, You Can't Take it With You, Rumors, Seven Against Thebes, and Amen Corner. She enjoys playing tennis, volleyball, basketball, swimming, playing video games, drawing, reading books, writing books, poetry, hanging out with family and friends, acting, singing, and dancing. She wants to go to Julliard as a theater major after high school, with the backup plan of University of Southern California or Missouri State as a double major in Theater and Animation. “My dream is to have a career in mostly voice acting but also stage and movie acting, own an animation/ video game company, and travel the world. I would like to give a shout out to my Lord and Savior for creating this special opportunity for me and to my family for always supporting and pushing me to be the best that I can be.”
Cori Moffett (Young Adult Ensemble) KC Rep: debut. Cori enjoys horseback riding, singing, dance and knows basic American Sign Language. She is a sophomore at Blue Valley Northwest High School
Andrea Morales (Giggly Sister/Violin/Ensemble) KC Rep: A Christmas Carol (second season). Recent credits: The Comedy of Asses, ShootHorses, The King Stag (UMKC), Macbeth (Heart of America Shakespeare Festival), The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza (The Coterie Theatre) Education: BA in Theatre from Purdue University. 3rd year MFA actor in the Professional Actor Training program at UMKC.
Jacob Moyer (Peter/Singing Urchin/Children’s Ensemble) KC Rep: debut. Jacob Moyer, a 7th grade performance class student from Hocker Grove Middle School in Merriam, Kansas. He has acted every year at either church or school plays since his role of baby Jesus at 10-months old. Most recently, he was Napoleon in a production of Lewis and Clark. Jacob is a Den Chief and Patrol Leader in Boy Scout Troop 93 sponsored by Shawnee United Methodist, Jacob would like to dedicate his season's performance to the memory of his mother, who died in August of pancreatic cancer.
Maggie Mulligan (Ignorance/Children’s Ensemble) Maggie is thrilled to make her professional debut at the Kansas City Rep! She is in the fifth grade at Westwood View School in Westwood, Kansas, and plays clarinet in the school band. Maggie performed in Bye Bye Birdie (2011) and as Shprintze and the Fiddler in Fiddler on the Roof (2010) with Stage Right Productions, and as Little Red Riding Hood in Into the Woods (2009) with Theater for Young Audiences. Maggie is a member of the “Vocalation” Show Choir with Stage Right Performing Arts. Maggie studies dance at Miller Marley Dance Studio, and was on the competition team at Beller Dance Studio. She studies piano with Joyce Randolph, and voice with Donna West. Maggie has won numerous awards, including “Little Miss Sunshine” for voice, High Point and High Gold Awards 2011 in dance, and Mid America Music Festival awards (piano) in 2009 and 2011. Maggie is a Junior Girl Scout with her friends at Westwood View, and also enjoys horseback riding and swimming.

Lucas was a recipient of the Kansas City Mayor’s Shining Star Award in 2010.
“I am an early graduate from Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts here in Kansas City, MO. (I graduated as a junior). I am now taking a gap year to audition, act, and situate things for college. Juilliard and DePaul University are two of the colleges I am applying for. Other interests: Film (I was in the film department at Paseo, and won some state awards. Michael Poleleyev (Peter /Children’s Ensemble) This is Michael’s first year performing at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, and he is very excited to be part of the cast. Michael is 13 years old and in the eighth grade at Maranatha Academy. His favorite role was Mr. Kobekeaneski in the play Homework Eats Dog and Other Woeful Tales. Other roles at Maranatha Academy include Pete in Code Red and the Young Boy in Check, Please! He has performed in Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, A Christmas Carol, and Beauty and the Beast with the Academy of Christian Theatre. He performed as the Boy in The Velveteen Rabbit at Harmony Vineyard Church. Michael’s hobbies include playing soccer, running track, playing clarinet, piano, bass clarinet, and violin. Michael plays keyboard in the youth worship band and enjoys going on mission trips. “A couple of interesting things about me are that I am a full blooded Russian, and I have always wanted to be in a Hollywood movie. Austin Zollars (Simon/Children’s Ensemble) Austin is making his second appearance with the KC Rep’s A Christmas Carol. Last season he performed in Bridge to Terabithia at the Coterie Theatre. Austin was an orphan in Oliver and a Lost Boy in Peter Pan at the Jewish Community Center White Theater, Zazu in The Lion King at the Barstow Theater, and Avram in Fiddler on the Roof at French Woods Performing Arts. He is also an avid soccer player (goalie, stopper) and loves the guitar. Austin is a seventh grade student at The Barstow School and lives in Leawood with his Mom, Dad, Grammy and Dog Cole.

Kyle Hatley (Director) Is an actor, director, playwright, producer and the Associate Artistic Director of the Rep, where he has directed The Borderland, Broke-ology, the 30th anniversary production of A Christmas Carol, and Circle Mirror Transformation. For the Rep’s 2011-12 season, he was the Associate Director for August: Osage County and he will be directing Little Shop of Horrors. Also at the Rep he was the assistant director on Clay, A Christmas Story, The Musical!, Into The Woods, Radio Golf, The Glass Menagerie, Saved and performed as “The Gentleman Caller” in The Glass Menagerie. Also in Kansas City, he has directed The Darwin Project at the Kauffman Performing Arts Center for Kansas City Friends of Chamber Music, Carousel at The Living Room Theatre, Hamlet for TwoThirds Theatre and Ben Franklin’s Apprentice at Coterie Theatre. For Kansas City Fringe Festival, he wrote and directed Watering The Grave, The Death of Cupid and Head and is currently writing a new musical called People Fall. He is also the artistic director and co-founder of Chatterbox Audio Theater, a non-profit, web-based theatre company that produces fully soundscaped audio plays for free streaming or download, where he has written and directed The Dead Girl, which won the Silver Ogle Award for excellence in Horror and Fantasy for audio theatre in 2008; Six, Surfacing, an adult adaptation of Pinocchio, which features some of Kansas City’s finest actors, and most recently he created and directed a new series called The Human Experience. In 2009 he was named Best Director in Kansas City by The Pitch, a 2011 Man of the Year nominee for KC Connect and was recently named a 2011 Charlotte Street Foundation Generative Artist Fellow. He received his degrees in Theatre from Rhodes College.

Allison Dillard (Costume Supervisor and AdditionalDesigns) Allison is in her final year of UMKC's Master of Fine Arts program in Costume Design and Technology. John Story (Sound Design) continues his work at the Kansas City Rep with A Christmas Carol–eight seasons, A Flea In Her Ear, Radio Golf, The Drawer Boy, Gee’s Bend, To Kill a Mockingbird, Bad Dates, The Syringa Tree (along with Steve LeGrand), Jitney, A Raisin in the Sun, Give ‘Em Hell, Harry, Two Trains Running. Local sound design credits include Crowns, Omnium Gatherum (Unicorn Theatre); Nobody Lonesome for Me (American Heratland Theatre); Tommy (Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre); Just So Stories, One for the Road (KC Fringe Festival) and Driving Miss Daisy (Central Standard Theatre), which was featured at the Fringe Festival in Bedford, England. Mr. Story also captured the sound of a concert for 10,000 people in the Philippine jungle, which will be featured in the recently completed documentary Rise & Dream. He has also worked extensively in recording studios, having produced CDs for various Kansas City artists including Mark Lowrey, Barclay Martin, Dan Thomas and Dave Stephens. He received his BA from Cleveland State University and an MFA in sound design from UMKC. Mr. Story serves as the Sound Supervisor for the KC Rep and the UMKC Department of Theatre.
Alison Hanks (Wig Design) KC Rep: Cabaret. Ms. Hanks has been a freelance wig designer and makeup artist for opera and theatre for 15 years. She currently builds and rents her extensive wig stock for productions all over the U.S. and has designed for Central City Opera, Opera Cleveland, Nevada Opera, Louisiana State University, and Des Moines Metro Opera, American Players Theatre, Washington National Opera, Marquette University, Sarasota Opera, Anchorage Opera and Opera Ontario. She recently designed for the Starlight Theatre production of Xanadu.

She has also coached dialects, voice and speech at the Unicorn Theatre and the Coterie Theatre. Broadway credits: Tony Award-winning Mary Stuart starring Janet McTeer and Harriet Walters. Regional credits: The Guthrie Theatre, in Minneapolis, MN; McCarter Theatre in Princeton, NJ; Crossroads Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ and at The Public Theatre in New York City. Education: BA from Williams College, MA in Voice Studies from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She is the head of voice and speech for the MFA Acting Program at UMKC.
Jennifer Martin (Movement Coach/Choreographer) KC Rep: A Christmas Carol–29 seasons, Winesburg, Ohio, Man and Superman, Liliom, Indian Ink, Work Song: Three Views of Frank Lloyd Wright. Her work has also been seen locally at the Unicorn Theatre and Coterie Theatre and nationally, at the Shakespeare Theatre and Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., Connecticut Repertory Theatre, Chicago’s Northlight Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, and Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Connecticut. Dr. Martin is a James C. Olson Professor at UMKC and is Resident Movement coach for the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. She earned her Ph.D. in theatre from the University of Michigan, and an MFA in dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. A founding board member of the Association of Theatre Movement Educators, Dr. Martin has conducted master classes in France, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and across the United States.
